Flights being canceled, delayed at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport during severe weather

PARTS OF WEST ALABAMA. I WANT TO GO INTO ONE LITTLE SPOT RIGHT HERE IN NORTHEASTERN TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, BETWEEN WYNDHAM SPRINGS AND BANKHEAD LOCK AND DAM. THAT’S A SPOT WHERE NOT ONLY IS THERE A LITTLE ROTATION SHOWING UP, BUT SOMETIMES IT DOESN’T HAVE TO PRODUCE A TORNADO. BUT THERE COULD BE SOME REALLY INTENSE WIND HEADING OVER TOWARD FRANKLIN FERRY TO ALLIANCE, TOWARD PLACES LIKE GUZZI SPRINGS, WEST JEFFERSON, AND EVEN UP TOWARD THE DORA AREA IN JEFFERSON COUNTY. ALL OF THIS COLOR RIGHT HERE REPRESENTS A SCREAMING SOUTH WIND UP HERE ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN, ABOUT 400FT ABOVE THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM. WE ARE EASILY GUSTING TO 60 65MPH RIGHT NOW. SO THERE’S OUR LINE OF STORMS. THIS IS WHERE IT’S GOING. THERE’S STILL A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IN EFFECT FOR TUSCALOOSA COUNTY. 8:07 P.M. IS WHEN THE WORST OF THIS WILL BE GETTING INTO THE DOWNTOWN JASPER AREA, OAK GROVE, ABOUT 824 DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM, 853 HOOVER ABOUT 857 AND CALERA IN SOUTH SHELBY COUNTY, CLOSER TO ABOUT 9:16 P.M. SO OVER THE NEXT HOUR, WE ARE REALLY GOING TO SEE THE WEATHER GO DOWNHILL IN JEFFERSON AND BLOUNT. SOUTHERN CULLMAN THROUGH SHELBY, BIBB AND CHILTON COUNTIES TO THE SOUTH. WE’VE GOT INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS AS WELL DOWN TOWARD CLARK COUNTY AND INTO CAMDEN AROUND WILCOX COUNTY. A TORNADO WATCH IS IN EFFECT IN SUMTER. GREENE, HALE, PERRY, CHILTON, AUTAUGA, ELMORE, MONTGOMERY, DALLAS, AND POINTS SOUTHWARD. HERE’S HOW THIS IS GOING TO WORK THROUGH THE REST OF THE EVENING. YOU CAN SEE IT’S BEHIND THE ACTUAL TIME JUST A BIT, BUT OUR FORECAST GUIDANCE SAYS MOST OF THIS IS EAST OF BIRMINGHAM INTO SAINT CLAIR, ETOWAH, CALHOUN COUNTIES. BY 10 P.M., IT MOVES THROUGH CHEROKEE COUNTY, CALHOUN, CLAY BY 10 TO 11, AND THEN IT MOVES OVER INTO GEORGIA AFTER THAT. WITH THIS LINE, WIND GUSTS AT OR ABOVE 50MPH WILL BE FAIRLY COMMON. EXPECT WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES
