Texas teen ‘dies in twin brother’s arms’ in track meet stabbing

A Texas family is mourning after a teenager was stabbed to death at a track meet in North Texas. Police have arrested the 17-year-old accused in the tragic and deadly incident. 

According to Frisco Police, “an altercation” broke out between the two students around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, at Kuykendall Stadium located in the 6900 block of Stadium Lane.

Officials said that 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony stabbed the other Frisco ISD student, identified by his family as 16-year-old Austin Metcalf. 

Police said that first responders attempted life-saving measures, but Metcalf ultimately died from his injuries. North Texas-native Will Cain, host of Fox News’ Will Cain Show, said in a post on X that “he died in his twin brother’s arms.”

Anthony was arrested and charged with first degree murder. Police are continuing to investigate. 

Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, created a GoFundMe to assist his family, which has raised more than $77,000 as of Thursday, April 3. More than 1,300 people have donated, blowing past the fundraiser’s goal of $75,000.

“He was a bright young man with a great future ahead of him. He was a leader of men. His smile would light up the room. His passion for football was unbelievable. Voted team MVP this past season and carried a 4.0 GPA.

He was looking forward to taking his game to the next level. His commitment, dedication, leadership, and sheer grit made him rise to the level of success that he desired. His twin brother, Hunter, played beside him. We will all remember him for the way he impacted others’ lives. I love you forever, son. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. God will take care of us till we meet again. RIP. Love, Dad.”
